Ivanovo
Ivanovo is a city in Central Russia, the administrative center of Ivanov Oblast. The population of the city is 403 000. Traditionally the city was considered to be the center of textile industry. The first textile manufactures appeared here in XVII century. Today the number of textile enterprises has considerably decreased, but there is a great number of clothing manufactures. Beginning from 1950s machine building enterprises began to develop intensively. At a present time the most developing are food industry enterprises. Ivanovo also has several chemical enterprises. The sector which is developing now is commerce and service industry. There exists a precondition for the development of tourism. Education in the city is introduced by a great number of universities, colleges, specialized schools and schools. The climate is moderately continental with comparatively hot summers and frosty winters. The coldest month is January with the average temperature -11,5, -12 °C. The hottest month is July with the average temperature + 17,5, +18,7 °C. The annual average precipitation is 600 mm.
