Kaliningrad

Kaliningrad (until 1946 it was Königsberg) is the administrative center of Kaliningrad oblast and the westernmost administrative center of the country.

It is a big center of machine building industry with developing metallurgy, light, printing and fish industries.

The climate is transitional from maritime to continental. Due to the influence of the Gulf Stream winter is warmer than in mainland Eurasia. Summer is moderately cool. The warmest months in the year are July and August. Spring is prolonged; March and April are cold while May and June are warm.
