Moscow State University of Geodesy and CartographyMoscow State University of geodesy and cartography is one the oldest institutions of higher education in the field of geodesy and cartography. In spite of its age the University is in the permanent process of development and adaptation to the demands of modern society. At the University, 5,000 students and postgraduate students from all over Russia and from the CIS and foreign countries are trained. Every year 900 new comers, including 750 full-time students, enroll at the University. More than 1,000 employees, including 470 teachers and 100 scientific workers are on the staff of the University. Among teachers there are 30 fully-fledged and corresponding members of various academies, 68 professors and doctors of sciences and 230 senior lecturers, who did their PhD, and candidates of sciences. Six departments support the training process at the University, 8 new departments have been established and reorganized for the last 5 years at the University in order to start training specialists in information technologies, application of up-to-date hardware and technology to the field of geodesy, cartography and cadastre. MIIGAiK is a specialized and most known higher educational institution in Russia, conducting multilevel training of diploma specialists, bachelor's and master's degree holders in the field of geodesy, photogrammetry, cartography, aerospace surveying, geoinformation systems (GIS), optical instrument-making, besides there are also trained lawyers, architects, managers in the field of land control and cadastre. Summing up, the University has been licensed to train specialists in 20 majors, bachelor's degree holders in 4 majors and master's degree holders in 32 majors.
