A. N. Kosygin Moscow State Textile UniversityA. N. Kosygin Moscow State Textile University was formed as Moscow State Textile Institute in 1919. It is one of the oldest institutes of higher education in textiles in Russia. In 1981, the institute was named in honor of Soviet Premier Alexei Kosygin, who had died the previous year and whose profession was in the textile industry. The institute was upgraded to "Academy" in 1990. It was renamed to A. N. Kosygin Moscow State Textile Academy. Nine years later, the Academy was approved as University and renamed as the A. N. Kosygin Moscow State Textile University in 1999. The university offers training 18 different categories, training of masters and bachelors. It has 42 departments, where it offers studies to almost 6700 students. The university has 110 laboratories and 100 auditoriums. Teaching staff includes 550 members, among which there are 90 professors and Doctors of Science, 300 associate professors and Candidates of Science. There is Faculty of further training on the basis of the university when lectures of related educational institutions upgrade their skills in the sphere of textile technologies and pedagogy of vocational education.
